Requiem, an art exhibit by Gerry Lynch will show at West Raleigh Presbyterian Church through the end of November 2021.
Opening Reception: Sunday, November 7 immediately following worship
Gerry created this series, which took about 18 months to complete, three and a half years ago. It was first shown in the Betty Rae McCain Gallery at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, located between Meymandi Hall and Memorial Hall in downtown Raleigh. Some of you regular symphony goers may have been fortunate to see it in the fall of 2019, just before the pandemic hit.
We are also pleased to be showing some of the works in our newly renovated Voice of the Spirit Gallery, which also doubles as the Fellowship Hall. We have fresh paint and wallpaper that will show exhibited artworks to greater advantage. Eight of Gerry’s 21 works, all inspired by Mozart’s Requiem, will be hung socially distanced in the gallery, and the balance will be shown in the sanctuary, Vanderbilt entry, and the Welcome Area. This way even a mid-size group of people can all enjoyed the work at once and remain socially distant.
A video featuring Gerry, Rev. Katherine Rick-Miller, and Joyce Watkins King discussing the 23 works is linked below. Our members and visitors will be able to listen to this commentary as they view the exhibition. The video features images of each artwork, so that the exhibition can be enjoyed by anyone with access to YouTube and unable to see it in person. Enjoy!
We will be counting on you to share this amazing opportunity with your family and friends during the run of the show AND share the Youtube link with friends at a distance.
