Caring Ministries

If you would like to learn more about any of our Congregational Care Ministries or would like to request support, please contact the church office.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry enjoys knitting shawls to give to those who are in need of comfort, healing, and help. Shawls are made and blessed before being given away. Those who receive them are wrapped and enfolded with prayers for protection and health, strength and consolation.

Kitchen Ministry

Churches are all about nourishment – soul and body! The kitchen brigade prepares delicious meals several times a year for the congregation to enjoy. Some meals, like the All-Church Christmas Dinner during Advent, are provided at no cost to members so that everyone attending may enjoy the feast and festivity.

If you love to cook (or clean), this is your ministry!

Martha Ministry

Members may need assistance for reasons ranging from illness to bad weather. Whatever the reason, the Martha Ministry will try to provide the needed services. Volunteers deliver meals, provide transportation, and more – small things that make a big difference for someone needing some extra support.

Martha, the ministry's namesake, is the sister of Mary and Lazarus. In the biblical reference, she is doing something practical (Luke 10:40, John 11:20, 28, and 39: 12:2). The Martha Ministry was founded to be a practical and confidential aid within the West Raleigh church family.

Card Ministry

West Raleigh’s Card Ministry offers prayers and support via a personally written note to any member or friend of West Raleigh who has recently experienced serious illness, an accident, hospitalization, the birth of a child, a death in the family, or some other unexpected hardship or special occasion. Some cards are specially made by members of the Arts Ministry.

Prayer Ministry

Praying with and for one another is one of the most essential things we do as followers of Christ. There are several ways to request prayer at West Raleigh:

  • Prayer Book: Write your prayers in the Prayer Book located at the welcome table by the Vanderbilt Ave entrance. These prayers will be read aloud during Worship and will be added to the Prayer List.

  • Prayer List: Email your prayer requests to office@wrpc.org for inclusion on the Prayer List that is linked in the E-Newsletter each week.

  • Prayer Chain: Urgent prayer requests and joyful celebrations are sent through the Prayer Chain, a group of people in the church who pray for requests of the people. If you have a prayer you’d like sent through the Prayer Chain or would like to be added to the Prayer Chain, email Carol House or office@wrpc.org
