Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day Y’all!

I’m so proud of all the awesome ways that our church supports the Earth

  • by reducing plastic and garbage when we use washable plates and silverware in the Fellowship Hall and refilling our water bottles

  • by using solar energy to power our church and lights that automatically shut off in the restrooms

  • by planting native plants in the Beeloved Community Garden and including them in the sanctuary for Easter

I’m even more proud that we continue to grow, learn, and do better when it comes to recycling and composting.

This Saturday you’ll have a chance to bring some of these Earth friendly church practices back to your home with the Native Plant Sale and Recycling event.

As you’ve heard we will have Anything with a Plug on site to take all your pluggable items PLUS anything made of metal or plastic to recycle and keep out of the landfill, as well as textiles in our own Green Zone Bin and lightbulbs, cooking oil, egg cartons, food pouches, and even eclipse glasses.

But of course, the part I’m most excited about is the plant sale.  We will have all the plants from the Easter sanctuary display in the sale including the gorgeous Crossvine on the cedar tree at the front of the garden, St. John’s Wort with its bright yellow flowers that the bumblebees go bonkers for, and colorful lime green and red Coral Bells that thrive in the shade.  There will be about 50 different species in total at the sale so everyone can find something to join their ecosystem.

And if you’ve read this far, you are the first to know that we will also have Mosquito Bucket of Doom kits available for FREE to help reduce mosquito populations all summer long without harming other insects.

There will also be a limited number of Maypop Jams made from the fruit of the native passionflower vine in our own Beeloved Community Garden.  If that’s not an incentive to get there early, I don’t know what is!
