Your Voice Matters!

Come and Be Heard

At its January 2023 meeting, The WPRC Session approved WRPC’s membership in ONE Wake.

ONE Wake is a national, non-partisan organization, organized in 1940, whose purpose is to speak out for just laws, policies and practices across America. Its strength comes from grassroots organizing that gives all people a voice. There are 46 religious congregations, associations, and other non-profits in the Wake County area with membership totaling in excess of 50,000 households.

All members of ONE Wake, including West Raleigh, are now working to develop the issues, in addition to affordable housing, that will become our collective agenda for action in the foreseeable future. Our list will be sent to ONE Wake staff who will consolidate all input, and develop an agenda from what members have said is important to them.

To collect our input, WRPC is hosting a series of listening sessions to hear from members and friends of the WRPC community about the issues are important to us.

We have set a goal of at least 50 participants from our church community who will engage in these conversations. Your participation matters. Listed below are 4 opportunities for your voice to be heard. Each session will be facilitated by WRPC members.

  • May 2 | Mission, Peace & Justice Committee with associated task forces/groups

  • May 17 | 6:30-8:30 pm (Zoom)

  • May 20 | 10:00-12:00 noon (Fellowship Hall)

  • May 21 | 12:45-2:45 pm (Fellowship Hall)

While it is not required, we encourage you to sign up so we have a rough estimate of the number of attendees to expect at each session.

Your voice matters as we seek to live our commitment to be the body of Christ beyond the corner of Vanderbilt and Horne streets.
